In 1970 Harrison Bankston rolled out a single coach and a promise: treat every family like kin, keep the work honest, and let the road teach you how to earn trust. That humble beginning grew through service, not hype—word of mouth, repeat journeys, and a devotion to people who needed a partner while pursuing their own piece of the American Dream.
Today the same values guide every handshake, service bay, and delivery. The Bankston name stands for care, respect, and the quiet determination of a business that refuses to forget where it began.

Born on December 6, 1942, in Decatur, Alabama, Harrison grew up when the American Dream was shaped by curiosity, perseverance, and the belief that hard work opens doors.

At just 13 years old, he traveled far from home, spending five formative years abroad. Those experiences continue to shape his perspective—teaching adaptability, service, and respect for people from all walks of life.

Returning home, Harrison pursued Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alabama in Huntsville while working at Teledyne Brown Engineering and later contributing to NASA’s Skylab program.

In 1968, he entered business through Moore TV Rental, serving families and learning that success begins with meeting real needs.

In 1970, Harrison founded Bankston Motor Homes with a simple belief: freedom is meant to be shared. By 1973 he became sole owner, committing to build something lasting.

What began with four employees has grown into over 100 people across multiple locations, continuing to serve families more than 55 years later.

Harrison is widely known for his generosity and willingness to give people a chance—helping others move forward through jobs, support, and opportunity.

For Harrison, the American Dream remains personal. RVs aren’t just vehicles—they are a way to turn miles into memories and bring families closer.

Adventure still defines his life—hiking Mount LeConte, learning to ski in his 60s, traveling far and wide, and always saying yes to the next horizon.

That same spirit continues to shape Bankston Motor Homes—helping families experience America not from one place, but from the road ahead. As America celebrates 250 years, the journey continues.
