Our History

Harrison Bankston, originally an engineer at Teledyne Brown, entered the RV business through a unconventional way. Together with his business partner, they purchased an RV and rented it out for a weekend and used the income to cover their costs. This allowed them to enjoy the RV themselves on other weekends. Through his own experience RVing, and hearing of the experiences of his rental customers, Mr. Bankston’s passion for RVing was ignited and he established Bankston Motor Homes in 1970. He was devoted to helping others experience the joys of RVing and offering exceptional customer service to continue supporting each customer through their adventures. Bankston Motor Homes quickly grew and began selling travel trailers and truck camper slide-ins. Due to Mr. Bankston’s personal experience RVing and dedication to collaborating with manufacturers and customers, Bankston Motor Homes became the first dealer of Tiffin Motor Homes in 1972. Mr. Bankston worked closely with Bob Tiffin, offering feedback on the product, and assuring him if he could build them, we could sell them. Bankston Motor Homes continued to grow through the years now with 3 supers centers located in Huntsville, AL, Gadsden, AL, and Ardmore, TN.

Bankston Motor Homes holds the distinction of being one of the largest family-owned and operated RV businesses in the state of Alabama. Dedicated to continuing this family legacy, Chase Baerlin and Colin Baerlin, grandsons of Mr. Bankston, acquired ownership of Bankston Motor Homes in 2021. For over 10 years, Chase (President) and Colin (Vice President) held multiple, valued positions in the business. From working in Service to IT, to Sales Manager, they gained the vital experience necessary to continue the legacy of selling high-quality RVs while providing exceptional customer service. There are over 10 members of Mr. Bankston’s family who work to ensure a deep understanding of the company's values and a commitment to maintaining its standards.
